Born December 3, 1938 in Alamo, GA, Mrs. Wilson was a daughter of the late David and Bernice McNeal.
She was raised in Jefferson and spent most of her adult life in Athens. She also lived in Charlotte, NC and Tucker, GA before returning to Athens after her retirement. Mrs. Wilson worked in the construction appliance industry with HADCO where she was named Salesperson of the Year her first year with the company in 1983. Frances was a huge Braves fan and ushered at Turner Field for the 2002-2004 seasons.
She found great joy in helping others. She loved and attended Friendship Presbyterian Church. She recently discovered a love for painting as well as engaging in many of the musical offerings and social activities at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living where she had resided since January of this year and had just been appointed Resident Ambassador.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, William Donald Wilson; daughter, Constance Rene “Connie” Wilson; and 8 half-brothers, and 1 half-sister.
Survivors include daughter, Amanda Lee Wilson Higginbotham of Loveland, CO; brother, Willard McNeal of GA and a grandson, Samuel Lyle Higginbotham of Livermore, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m., at Friendship Presbyterian Church. A reception will be held at the church following the service.
