Tom was born and raised in Wheeling, WV, the only child of Geraldine (Jeri) and Robert (Bob) Peake. He graduated from Linsly Military Institute and attended West Virginia University. He was a member of the U. S. Army Reserve and attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer.
As a child, Tom’s parents vacationed in Florida. That’s when he fell in love with Florida and eventually decided to move to the area with his wife and daughter in 1978 and has continued to reside here ever since.
Tom was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol and served as Squadron Commander for the Daytona Beach Composite Squadron and Group 6 Deputy Commander. He was also a lifetime member of the Elks Club and belonged to the Amvets, Daytona Beach Amateur Radio Association, and Volusia County Genealogical Society.
For the majority of his life, he worked as a draftsman but was a true “jack-of-all-trades” who could excel at any job you gave him.
Tom had many hobbies, talents and interests. He had a passion for cars, aviation, computers, golfing and genealogy.
He was kind, loyal, smart, funny, organized, hardworking and above all, optimistic. He was perhaps best known for ability to tell stories and his contagious laughter and love for life. His motto was “fun is where you find it”.
More than a father and husband, he was a best friend and mentor and will be missed dearly.
May you find comfort in his memory and remember all the “fun” times you had with him.
A celebration of life memorial service for Tom will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 1 pm to 3 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32127.
Join the family afterwards at the AMVETS Post 911, 5624 S Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange, FL 32127. All are welcome to attend and share memories, laughter and “fun times”.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Opis Bridgeview Center for their care and support.
