Ann Richardson was born on November 18, 1934, to Conrad and Mildred Nelson in the original Greeley Hospital on 8th Avenue and 16th Street. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage and considered herself one of the last old Swedes at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Ann passed away on June 10, 2021.
She grew up on various farms around Weld County, CO. She learned to drive in her father’s beet fields. She was too small to reach the brake and clutch, so her father would turn the truck around at the end of each row and get it started back the other direction. She learned to milk cows at an early age and never lost her love for all kinds of cows.
Ann never meet a stranger. She would stop people on the street and strike up a conversation, always wanting to know the origin of their names. When we were growing up, Mom was the second Mother to many friends in the neighborhood.
Ann graduated from Colorado State College (UNC) as a Sorority sister of Alpha Sigma Tau.
Ann is survived by her very close friend Jim Thomason; her two children David Richardson (Diana) of Littleton, CO, and Mary Rockstad (Tom) of Castle Rock, CO. Godmother to Kimberly Reynders and Michelle Thomson; six grandchildren plus five more on the Thomason side. Between them, Ann and Jim, they have 25 great grandchildren.
Ann is preceded by her loving husband Philip Richardson; daughter Lisa Richardson; and son James Richardson.
