Mary “Bitsy” Elizabeth Nanavati of Middleburg Heights, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on July 17, 2021. Bitsy was born to Paul and Helen Bower on September 2, 1936, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. She graduated Carnegie Mellon with a Bachelor of Arts, where she also met her husband, Keki Nanavati.
Known for her generosity, creativity, sharp wit, and gourmet meals, Bitsy loved to travel and went on numerous excursions to India. She spent many years serving the Girl Scouts as a troop and unit leader and trainer for new leaders. Bitsy was a role model to both scouts and leaders during her time with the Girl Scouts. Bitsy loved crafts of all kinds, frequently gifting family with hand knit sweaters.
In addition to her brother Paul Bower, Bitsy is survived by her husband Keki; her three children Edwin Nanavati, John Nanavati, and Julie Nanavati; and six grandchildren, Calder, Rachel, Ravi, Jenna, Ben, and Felix. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on August 7th at 1pm at the Middleburg Hts. Community Church, 7165 Big Creek Parkway, Middleburg Heights, OH 44130. A reception will follow.
