Althea entered eternal rest on September 8, 2021. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home with a funeral mass to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Clinton, Mississippi.
After graduating from Boyce High School, Althea married her sweetheart Bert in 1953. They were married 61 years. Together they raised four children and eventually relocated to Clinton in 1975. She was an active parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church, volunteered many hours serving her community at the 4C’s, and was also a gifted seamstress. However, her greatest joy came from being with family and being our Mother.
Althea is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Al and Tommy; sisters, Nell and Robbie; daughter Karen; and her husband Bert. She is survived by her sister Laura; brother Bud; sons Troy (Stephanie), Gary, Chris (Sherry); grandchildren Boo (Penny), Megan (Gabriel), Amy (Ashley), Matt, Chase, Anna, Maddie; great-grandchildren Dana, Landon, Sophie, and Emma.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Shirley Shipman and Jean Adcock for their friendship and in-home care. Also, we are grateful to Plainview Assisted Living, Tracey Rutland, and her staff for the loving care and compassion they showed mom as she struggled with declining health and dementia.
Pallbearers will be Matt Bergeron, Chase Bergeron, Brad Morgan, David Morgan, Gabriel Gregory, and Wayne Johnston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The MIND Center at UMMC for Alzheimer’s and Dementia research.
