He was a proud Brownsville High School Eagle (basketball and football) —Class of 1963. It was in Jr High School that Rudy met his Sweetheart Angie whom he married a year after High School graduation. They moved to San Antonio, TX where they started their life, had their two children while Rudy worked by day and attended San Antonio College and completed his Accounting degree at St. Mary’s University.
Rudy was a great spiritual source. He lived a life full of love for God and this love showed to all that met him!
Rudy lived a grateful life, he always felt blessed and he knew he was deeply loved by his children and their spouses and by a plethora of family and friends.
Rodolfo Vega Vasquez, Sr was known as Rudy, Sweetheart (wife), Dad, Compadre, Uncle, Friend, Prayer Warrior, Christian, Big Rudy and also known as a genuine, loving, caring and supportive man. He wore many hats for many different people but treated all with respect and kindness. He worshipped our Lord Jesus Christ and was ready to share his faith with any and all. If you needed prayer he was ready to call upon our Lord Jesus Christ to seek healing, peace or whatever your need may have been. The Lord received a great man into heaven that was loved by many!
Job opportunities led Rudy and his family to South Texas (Rio Grande Valley). Rudy’s opportunities kept him in the financial world (economic development and banking) but ultimately he became self-employed taking over the family apartment rental business.
Rudy’s entertainment came from being with his family but one of his greatest joys was barbecuing a meal - cooking the food was secondary to the sitting outside and socializing with friends, neighbors or family.
