Pastor Billy Lee Hacker, age 53, of New Bern, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 18, 2021. "Hack," as he was often called by family and friends, accomplished so much through our Lord Jesus Christ. He was a soul winner, man of God, Pastor and Shepherd at Vanceboro Free Will Holiness Church and friend to all who knew him. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and cousin who will be greatly missed. He was always so full of life and lived life to the fullest. In the words of 2 Timothy 4:7, we know that Pastor Billy has "fought a good fight, finished his course, and has kept the faith."
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Hurshell Hacker, Sr. and Mary Emma Hacker.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Edwards Barrow Hacker; children, Johnny Barrow (Jennifer) and Jessica Fulcher (John); brothers, Hurshell Hacker, Jr. (Alice), Lash Hacker (Ann), Bobby Hacker (Tina), Willie Hacker (Pam); sisters,Sadie Bradley (Brian), Marie Favreau (Eric), and Lillie Delph (Chris); grandchildren, Julie, Johnny III, Jaylee, and Jaxon.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and view Pastor Hacker between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23rd in the sanctuary of Vanceboro Free Will Holiness Church. Due to COVID-19, the family will not be receiving guests during this time.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 24th at the covered shelter behind Vanceboro Free Will Holiness Church. Guests are encouraged to bring their own seating. In the interest of keeping everyone safe, please limit physical interaction, maintain social distancing and wear masks when in the presence of the family.
