J.R. Williamson, 95, of Midland, TX passed away on October 3, 2017. He was born on November 13, 1921 in De Queen, AR. to J.R. Williamson, Sr. and Enice Parmer Williamson. He graduated from De Queen High School and joined the Army Air Corps where he proudly served in the European Theatre in World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
On March 24, 1944 he married the love of his life Dorothy Marie Dale, also from De Queen, at Sedalia Army Airfield base chapel in Warrensburg, MO in a crossed swords ceremony.
J.R. retired from Gulf Oil Company after a 30 year career in gas accounting. During that time he was transferred to Crane, TX and finally back to Midland, TX.
He was a member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ and he and Dorothy both enjoyed traveling with West Texas Chapter of Family Motor Coach Association.
J.R. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was deeply respected by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy and sisters Marguerite Walker and Ruby Ellen Hubbard.
Those left behind to honor and cherish his memory are his three sons: Richard Dale of New York, NY, Stan Williamson and wife Linda of Midland, TX and Robert Williamson and wife Laurie of Talpa, TX; his grandchildren: Stan Williamson, Jr., Susannah Nicholas, Sarah Davis, Amy Bomar and Zadie Williamson. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren: Rhett Davis, Ada Cate Davis and Garrett Nicholas.
A visitation will be Monday, October 9, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 11:00am at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
