Charles “Chuck” Robert Flower, Jr., of Sun City, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017. Chuck was born in Boulder, Colorado in 1942 and spent his early childhood in Longmont, Colorado where he was active in the Boy Scouts, taught skiing at Hidden Valley and graduated from Longmont High School in 1960. Chuck received a degree in Petroleum Engineering and his Professional Engineering Certification from Colorado School of Mines in 1965 and was a Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity member. Chuck was an avid golfer and received numerous awards and recognition for his skills and ability. Through high school and college Chuck was recognized as “Player of the Year” multiple years and made five hole-in-ones.
Chuck married his high school sweetheart, Maureen, in Estes Park, Colorado in 1962. After graduation, Chuck made his career in the oil and gas business. His career started in Casper, Wyoming and eventually the Arvada/Golden, Colorado area became home. Chuck’s career eventually brought him to Texas first in Amarillo and later to The Woodlands. Chuck retired from a successful second career from Foley’s in 2006. After retirement, Chuck and Maureen moved to Sun City, Texas where he played golf four days a week and enjoyed the many friendships formed.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Flower. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Maureen; two daughters, Diane Waggoner and husband Ben of Georgetown and Stephanie Flower and her partner Pat Neal of Houston; grandsons, Trey and Tyler Waggoner; sister, Jo Flower of Florida; sisters-in-law, Patty Bigler and husband Rich and Marti West; brother-in-law, Frank West and wife Mindy; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend our gratitude to the staff of Georgetown Living and Mary Mann of Austin Geriatric Specialist for the loving care extended to Chuck and support provided to Maureen.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628. Interment will follow in Boulder, Colorado at Mountain View Memorial Park. The family suggest that memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to: the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
