It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Guy Brown announce his unexpected passing on Tuesday, January 16 at the age of 52. Robert was born on April 12, 1965, in Wiesbaden, Germany to Melvyn and Christel Brown. He grew up as an Army Brat living all over the United States. Robert was proud to graduate from Florida Air Academy High School with his private pilot’s license and was named Top Junior Pilot among his class. From there, he went on to Washington State University and later earned his Master’s Degree at Colorado School of Mines. It was at WSU that he met his wife, Kim. They were married in 1992 and shared 25 years together skiing, camping, and raising their family. He loved sports. He played basketball, and even took up hockey so he could play with his son, and never missed a Broncos game. Robert was a “self-taught” man in many ways. From learning how to surf or ski or how to fix the car and the kitchen sink, he enjoyed the challenge of figuring things out for himself. He even taught himself computer programming and development, which he enjoyed professionally for twenty years.
The most important thing to him was his family. Robert is survived by his wife, Kim, and their three children, Emma, Camden, and Ethan; his father and step-mother, Mel and Helen Brown; his five sisters and spouses, Monica and Jim Aranci, Yvonne Harper, Kim and Dave Leaming, Tracy and Choate Wilson, and Susan and Tim Schisler. He is also survived by a large extended family who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Christel (Schrader) Brown. Robert will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 25, at the Olinger Highland Chapel (10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO). A reception will be held immediately following at the funeral home. The burial will be held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Erie, CO for family later that afternoon. In lieu of flowers, a college memorial fund has been set up for the children. www.youcaring.com/robertgbrown.
