She was in her 93rd year and was surrounded by her loving family. Caroline will be dearly missed by her children Roseann Mercante (husband Dino) of Boston, Ontario; Joseph (partner Donna) of Jarvis, Ontario; and James of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Caroline was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Leo Boraski; her parents Giuseppe and Chiarina Mirco; as well as her eight brothers and two sisters. She will be sadly missed by her adoring grandchildren Jamie (partner Misty), Kristopher, Nicholas, Tamara (husband Brad), Dianna (husband David), and Jenna, as well as her great-grandchildren Selwyn, Duke, Emily, and Austin. Known lovingly as “Aunt Car,” Caroline also shared a very special bond with her many beloved nieces and nephews.
Caroline’s favourite pastimes were bowling, baking, and hosting family dinners every Sunday. She also enjoyed playing cards, traveling with her sweetheart, Leo, and visiting the casino when not lunching with her family and friends. She was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and never missed a game. Caroline’s kitchen table was the setting of many wonderful conversations, cups of tea, shots of Bailey’s, and lickolique - a term coined by her beloved Leo for her spectacular homemade goodies. It has been ten long years since Caroline lost her sweet Lolly, and now, they are finally reunited - Leo and Car.
The family will receive friends at the “THORPE BROTHERS’ FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL”, 96 West St., on Tuesday, May 21st, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
We all love and miss you, Gramma.
