Alberto R. Lira entered eternal rest on October 1, 2019 at the age of 90. Born in Encinal, TX to Alberto C. and Josefa Rodriguez Lira on May 18, 1929; he now reunites with his parents; wife, Juanita Lira; grandsons, Jose Alberto Jr. and Michael Lira; and siblings: Alberta, Virginia, Tomasa, Juanita, Margarita, Esperanza, Santos, Catarino, David.
Alberto faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He was a proud lifelong member of the American Legion VFW Post #396. On his free time he enjoyed collecting coins, using a metal detector and spending time with his family.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his children: Jose Alberto Lira (Julia), Edelia Lira (Kim), Diana Lira, Juan Antonio Lira, Armando Lira, Mary Lira (Sid), Susie Bergmann (James); grandchildren: Melissa (Jason), Tye (Aaron), Matthew (Jennifer), Tucker (Marie), Tavis (Taylor), Trevor; great-grandchildren: Nickolas, Joshua, Isaac, Josiah, Karina, Jeremiah, Lenacy, Jalissa, Calvin: brother, Demencio Lira; sister, Gloria Lira; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 5pm-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm. Service will continue on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 with a 9:30am Funeral Mass at St. Brigid Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow at Ft.
