Dan was born March 24th, 1936 in Schloppe, Germany, just before the start of World War II. He came to the U.S. with his mother after barely surviving the holocaust where he tragically lost most of his extended family.
Dan enlisted in the Air Force and become a photographer, serving for 20 years. This service included a tour in Korea and two in Vietnam. Dan retired from the Air Force to Hot Springs where he ran several photo businesses with his wife of 58 years, Mary, who preceded him in death in 2013.
Dan is survived by his eldest son Roger, twins Trevor & Tracy; his daughter-in-law Lynda; son-in-law Bryan; granddaughters Misty (Aaron) Burroughs and Merry (Jason) Stachey; and great grandkids Chase, Blake, Logan, Kaitlyn, Andrew and Adam.
Dan and Mary always welcomed people into their home, hosting many foreign exchange students and caring for others who had been cast out or needed help.
Dan was a faithful member of Trinity Church. He was passionate about teaching the Bible and involved in several ministries including the food pantry.A faithful member of the Gideons, Dan helped distribute thousands of Bibles.
Although his early life was filled with destruction and brutality, he lived as an overcomer. Once a critic of faith in God, he was transformed by supernatural intervention as he explains in his autobiography. www.hallelujahstory.com
Dan will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, unashamed honesty, outspokenness and his positive outlook on life. He will be missed by many.
Visitation is at Trinity Church, 670 Panama St. in Hot Springs, Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at 2 p.m. and a service to honor his life at 2:30 p.m. All are welcome.
