Charles P. Carlson, Jr., a longtime Norton Company employee and account executive, died Wednesday afternoon, November 27, 2019 at Wingate in Harwich. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles P. Carlson Sr. and Helen Ericson Carlson, and by his wife Patricia Holt Carlson, who died in 1986. He was born November 9, 1936 and was brought up in Millbury. He developed his love for Cape Cod as a boy vacationing with his family at the cottage “Seamore” on Campground Beach, Eastham. He graduated from UMASS Amherst, where he met his wife Patricia. Charlie was a salesman at Norton Company, and he was good at what he did. One of his first assignments took him and his family to Houston, TX where they lived and worked for six years, before returning to MA. Charlie and his family then lived in Shrewsbury, and later also in Eastham. Charlie enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, clamming, and all things related to the seashores of Eastham and Wellfleet. In 1995 he retired to his beloved Cape Cod, living on the marsh in Eastham.
Charlie is survived by his sons Fr. Andrew Carlson, (former wife Karen Place Carlson), and Jonathan Carlson (Stephanie Abodeely Carlson) and his grandchildren Alexander, Nils, James, Rachel and Stephen. He is also survived by his sister Linda Carlson Mendillo (Angelo).
There will be a Viewing at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA 02653 on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm. The Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury at 11:00 am, Saturday December 7.
