Thomas E. Alcox, 89 of Independence died Monday, December 23, 2019 at John Knox Village Hospice House. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 am Monday, December 30, 2019 at Redemptorist Fathers Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9-9:30 am at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
Tom was born December 5, 1930 in Virginia Beach, VA to James and Lucy (Whitehurst) Alcox. Tom enlisted in the Merchant Marines at the end of WWII under The Marshall Plan and serviced for 15 years. Upon discharge, Tom met Catherine Geary and moved to her hometown of Kansas City, Mo where they were married June 10, 1961. She preceded him in death July 6, 2003. Tom worked a few jobs before becoming an airline mechanic for TWA for 28 years, retiring in 1992. He was a proud fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.
In addition to his wife Catherine, Tom was preceded in death by his brother. Tom is survived by his son, Dr. Thomas Alcox, his wife Michelle, and their children, Kaitlin Alcox and Brett Alcox.
