Her survivors include her three children: Marsha A. Calbreath (spouse David) of Modesto, CA; Edward E. Huston (spouse Linda) of Redding, CA; and Pamela J. Huston of Redding, CA; and her brother, Duane B. Kurz of New Plymouth, Idaho. She had 6 grandchildren, all of whom were her favorite: Scarlet Current, Sonya Huston, Spencer Crume, Ed Huston, Kelly Graham, and Dale Crume and their loving spouses, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her little dog, too, Angel. Everyone who met her loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest LaVern Huston in 2003; her parents, Herbert and Dulcie Kurz (nee Bennett); and her sister Jacquelyn May Silver.
Donna was born on Feb 17, 1931, in Lakin, Kansas. She graduated from Centennial High School in Pueblo, Colorado. Three months after her graduation, she married the love of her life, Earnest Huston in a double ceremony with Earnest’s brother Ray in Woonsocket, South Dakota. They moved to the Redding area in 1965, where they both resided until their passing. After several years of working as the head housekeeper at the Ponderosa Inn in Redding, CA, she retired in 1978 to travel with Earnest.
Donna was a loving soul who never said an unkind word to anyone. She enjoyed traveling, camping, snowmobiling, laughing, needlecrafts, and reading, but her favorite activity was spending time with her family, who absolutely adored her. She was an active member of Shasta Baptist Church in Redding and enjoyed volunteering at the church library whenever she could.
A celebration of life will occur on Sunday, Feb 16 at 3pm at Lawncrest Chapel on Cypress Ave in Redding, CA, followed by a private family reception. Pastor Michael Johnson will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend the celebration of Donna’s beautiful life.
