Caroline Blue Lowery Buntz was born in Ensley, Alabama on September 25, 1920. She married the love of her life, Len Buntz, in June 1945, and they embarked on a life of travel and adventure all over South America, Europe, Central America, Mexico and the United States. During her life, she traveled to 25 countries and lived in Argentina, Italy, Mexico and Ecuador.
But of the greatest importance were her faith, her love of Jesus and her heart of compassion. She shared that love for Him with every person she met whether it was in NYC or the jungles of the Amazon. Language was never a barrier wherever she went because Caroline was pure in spirit, and those that met her knew it.
Caroline adored her three children, six grandchildren, and three great grandsons. Her family, nieces, nephews, siblings, and those she adopted by heart (Kitty, Paulina, Angela, Ruth, Dennis and Debbie Stair) meant the world to her. Wherever she lived, her home was always filled with children, and most of them called her Mama Buntz. The aroma of freshly baked bread or hot chocolate permeated the air during the winter months when scores of children came to ice skate. She never raised her voice when the house overflowed during the summer months with kids going in and out to swim and water ski. She loved visiting with everyone, seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces and hearing everyone’s laughter. Caroline was an accomplished artist, poet and cook. She cherished her Scottish lineage and the Presbyterian Church.
Her parents, Rassie and Caroline Rebecca Lowery; husband, Leonard Earl Buntz; granddaughter Caroline McMurchy; and her precious siblings predecease her.
She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her. Caroline’s life is a legacy of Jesus’ love because she lived every day with Him.
A private family graveside ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 2, at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7500 W Britton Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73132. It will be streamed via Facebook Live. To view her service, see her Facebook Live event on Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper’s page.
