Mr. Ramsey was born in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Orlando Anthony Ramsey and the late Sarah Wade Ramsey. He is also preceded in death by an infant sister, Shirley Marie Ramsey.
Mr. Ramsey was a member of Bold Springs Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Georgia State University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He loved music and was an avid trumpet player. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed playing golf and was known to ride over 100 miles per week on his bicycle until seven years ago when his health no longer permitted. Mr. Ramsey was a proud United States Veteran having retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sargent with over twenty years of dedicated service.
Mr. Ramsey is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Billie Deloris Ramsey of Bethlehem; sons, Alan (Jini) Ramsey of Palm Bay, Florida, and Bryan Ramsey of Carrollton, Texas; sisters, Susy Sanders of McComb, MS, and Pat Gough of Plant City, Florida; and two grandchildren, Meghan and Jackson Ramsey.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bold Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Whitley officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The service will be livestreamed from the Smith Funeral Home Facebook page.
A private burial was held at Barrow Memorial Gardens in Winder.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Mr. Ramsey to the American Heart Association or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
