Born in St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late John Gomes Soares and Sophie (Botelho) Soares, she came to the United States in 1950 at the age of 6 years old. She has resided in Fairhaven since 1970.
Margaret had worked as a stitcher in the local textile industry for 26 years. She was also a manager at Delken Laundromat for 18 years.
She enjoyed needlepoint, word search puzzles and trips to the casinos.
She is survived by her siblings, Daniel Soares of Fairhaven, Michael Soares of Freetown and Rose Marie Houghton of Fairhaven; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was the sister of the late Fernando, Bert and John Soares.
