Born December 13, 1930 in Lansing to Vern and Esther (Summer) Beck, Arden was always staying busy: a gifted woodworker, artist, and tinkerer, he also enjoyed taking care of his yard and being outdoors. He worked at Oldsmobile until his retirement in 1989. He was an excellent water-skier, and his favorite places on earth seemed to be anywhere in or near water: his favorite beaches were Elk Rapids in the summer and Orange Beach in Alabama in the winter. He loved animals and often brought home pets in need of a home.
Due to his Mennonite upbringing, Arden had a belief in Jesus Christ and strong Christian values which he practiced daily. Arden enjoyed giving back by volunteering his time to clean and prepare bulletins for services at Trinity Church, where he faithfully attended for many years.
Weekend mornings were often spent in the company of the “Breakfast Club Buddies”, a group of men who would gather for breakfast after heading out to treasure hunt at all the garage sales in the area.
More than anything, Arden loved being with his children and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Bernice Gerig and Valetta Walton.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ann Marie (Engle); his children, Vaughn Beck and Kristi (Russell) Rowe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the City Rescue Mission.
