Larry was born in Hickory, North Carolina on September 6, 1946, the oldest of five children. He traveled the world as part of a military family, and during his youth he cultivated a love of football and westerns.
Larry began his long career in law enforcement in 1965, serving honorably in the U.S. Army’s Military Police Corps for over 25 years. During his time in the Army, he served as an Air Marshall, was deployed to Berlin when the wall came down, and competed for Drill Sergeant of the Army. He continued on his path of public service as Chief of Security at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., where he remained for over 22 years. While at the Gallery, Larry had the honor of providing security services for VIPs such as Lady Dianna, Oprah, and many former heads of state, presidents, vice presidents, and their families.
Larry is survived by his wife, Maria; his daughter, Gwendolyn; his son, Paul; his brother, David; his grandson, Joshua; great grandchildren Kayleigh and Jacob; and by his numerous other relatives and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his mother Veda (Buchanan) Kaylor, father Robert Wiseman, step-father Verchial Kaylor, his sisters Cathy and Charlotte, his brother William, and by his son Eric.
A mass will be celebrated in memory of Larry on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Sacred Heart Chapel in Bowie, Maryland. He will be laid to rest at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland.
