Born January 16th, 1939
Died July 22, 2020
Nathan was born to Lillie Bee Wyatt and Barney Lev Tew on January 16th, 1936 in Enterprise, Alabama. Nathan started his married life working as a mechanic and managing a citrus grove. He later began hauling produce long distance via trucking, which led to his purchase of his own rig and company, Nathan Tew Trucking. He would later become one of the first blueberry growers in Polk County. People would come from all over stating that he grew the best blueberries that they had ever tasted. Nathan accomplished all of this with less than a sixth grade education.
His family would tell you that he was a hard man, but each and every one of them will report to you a story of a hardworking man who loved his family, giving a hand wherever he could, and teaching them to also become strong individuals. He loved Hank Williams songs, tomato juice and crackers, and he loved his black hat!
He is survived by his wife Betty McCall-Tew and his daughter Teresa Tew-Hedge; four grandchildren: Shannah Hedge-Acevedo, Brandon Hedge, Thomas West and Cody Bodiford; plus he leaves three wonderful great-grandchildren: Alannah Acevedo-Benitez, Jena Acevedo and Carter Hedge.
He also leaves behind eight brothers and sisters: Benny Tew, Joann Buckholtz, Glenda Wiggins, Fay Shiels, Gail Whittington, Larry Myers and David Myers.
Nathan's youngest daughter, Kay Tew-Bodiford, proceded him in death on September 14th, 1996. He died of natural causes.
