Services for Robert E. "Bobby" Justis, Sr., 87, of Mabank, will be held 12:30 pm Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Pastor Byron Jones officiating. Interment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Justis passed away September 20, 2020 at his home. He was born November 7, 1932 is Pecos, TX to Victor Hugo and Arte Wood Justis.
Bobby grew up in Pecos, TX and graduated high school in Jal, NM. He joined the US Navy and served in the Korean War. Bobby became an active reservist and retired after 20 years of service. Mr. Justis also served as a fireman for the City of Dallas and retired in July 1988 after 30 years.
Bob was an avid golfer and loved fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren swimming while he tried to fish. Bobby was an active member of First Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City where he served as a deacon. For many years, he threw spectacular 4th of July gatherings for family and church friends.
Mr. Justis is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Arte Justis; five brothers and six sisters. Bobby is survived by his wife, Sue Justis of Mabank; two sons: Mart Hugo Justis of Mabank, and Robert E. Justis, Jr. of Mesquite; daughter, Karen and Jeff Walker of Farmersville; four grandchildren: Lynda, Robert Wayne and Veronica, April and Gonzalo, and Kati and Josh; four great-grandchildren: Yvette, Oscar, Alec and Kyle; and a sister, Melba Taff.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
