Loving father of Rochelle Loyer, Holly Loyer (Paul Michaud), Cary (Eileen) Loyer and Darrin (Jill) Loyer. Treasured grandfather of Trevor Loyer. Dear brother of Lavern (Fran) Loyer. Proud uncle of many nieces and nephews. Hugh was preceded in passing by his parents: Edward and Hughann; and his siblings: Lawrence, Leannore, Johnny, Lester and Lorena.
Hugh embodied the pioneer spirit. As a youth he learned to hunt, fish, and trap game. Like all his siblings, he helped out on the farm. He was even photographed putting together a CASE tractor from the pieces shipped in a box when he was around 12 years old!
During WWII, he enlisted in the Navy at age 17. At age 23 he was one of the youngest road building supervisors in the state of Michigan. Shortly after that he was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War with the Army Core of Engineers building roads.
After the Korean War, he met his bride Ann and they married and raised 4 children. He built his home in White Lake and ran a successful construction business until his retirement. He enjoyed working in the construction industry and continued to do so part time long after his retirement. He liked to travel and travelled much of the US and Mexico, with later years travelling to Florida annually. The outdoors has always been a large part of Hugh's life, especially animals and wildlife. Speaking with family and friends and sharing stories was always a joy to Hugh. He was love and respected and will be missed.
