Charlene is preceded by her parents, Elvis and Walterine Nevils, two infant children, one grandson, Blake Matthew, and her in-laws, Marion "Pops" and Bernice "Sugar or Meme" Chiasson.
Charlene is survived by her loving husband and rock of 52 years, Bobby, daughter, Tiffany Rose, and son, Matthew and his wife, Joanna. Charlene is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Gabriel, Jayden, Chance, and Conner who all called her "Charlene".
Charlene was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on May 15, 1950 and graduated from Sulphur High School in 1968. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in K-12 Art Education Specialist and Masters of Education degrees in Administration and Supervision. Her first seventeen years were as a high school art specialist at Sam Houston High School and W.W. Lewis Middle School. She served as the Calcasieu Parish School System as Public Information and Quality Officer with a career that spans over 30 years.
Charlene would light up the room with her smile, Estee Lauder perfume, jewelry, and makeup. She was a mentor to many students and touched so many lives. She loved to travel the world with her family and friends, celebrate life, decorate for Christmas, and host numerous parties and trips over the years. Charlene cherished her golden doodle, CoCo Chanel. Charlene will truly be missed as a wife, mother, grandmother whom she was called "Charlene" which she loved dearly. We will a truly miss her as many will.
Visitation will be held beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Chapel.A Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. Rev. Timothy Goodly will officiate.
