Minnie Moline Trisdale Jones, beloved matriarch of five generations, faithful Christian and friend passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on Good Friday, April 2, 2021, in Sarasota, Florida, at the age of 103. Minnie was born on March 19, 1918 in Whitleyville, Tennessee. She was the seventh child and first girl born to Vanious Fallow Trisdale and Mary Elmer Brotherton Trisdale in their family of twelve children. Minnie was the first child in her family to graduate from Walter Hill High School.
On December 22, 1938, Minnie married Joseph Carmack Jones in Lebanon, Tennessee. In 1941 they had a son, Joseph Carmack Jones, Jr. They moved to Redding, California for a few years before relocating to Detroit, Michigan, where Minnie began a long career with Chrysler Corporation. She began as a seamstress and was later promoted to Inspector due to the excellent quality of her work. In 1947, the couple had a daughter, Mary Frances Jones. Minnie was a life-long Christian and member of the Church of Christ, having been baptized at the age of 12. She worshiped at congregations in Vesta, Tennessee, Detroit, Michigan and Sarasota, Florida. When Minnie retired in 1980, she and her husband relocated to Sarasota to be near her son and his family.
Minnie was a fierce competitor; whether it was basketball, Pinochle, Checkers, Aggravation or Kings on the Corner, she was playing to win. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and reading until her eyesight restricted those hobbies. One of her favorite pastimes was watching her son play baseball throughout his high school and college years, minor leagues and then into management in the minor and major leagues. She also enjoyed traveling with and visiting her daughter, participating in church activities including the OWLS and never missed an opportunity for bible study or worship. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars.
