Mary Jane Drouin peacefully passed away on the night of April 21, 2021. She was born in Plaza, WA, on October 1, 1923, to O.E. and Emma Havens. On June 24,1943, Mary married Philip J. Drouin at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton.
Mary graduated from high school in Kendrick, ID, where she was valedictorian of the class of 1941. She then attended Kinman Business University in Spokane. A lifelong Catholic, Mary had been a member of Star of the Sea since 1942. While her chief interest was caring for her family, she was very active in her church and belonged to both the YLI (Young Ladies Institute) and the Altar Society. Mary also taught CCD classes and volunteered in the CYO Mothers’ Club. In the mid-1960’s, after Mary’s children became school-aged, she worked part-time in various offices for the City of Bremerton, Kitsap County, Bremerton Chamber of Commerce, and Bremerton’s KBRO radio station.
Phil, her husband of nearly 70 years, preceded Mary in death (2012) as did daughters Janet Drouin (1973), Phyllis Hartline (2000), and son-in-law Bob Wheeldon (2018). She is survived by sons Ed (Debbie) Drouin, Tom (Esther) Drouin; daughters Joey Wheeldon, Geri (Mark) Peake, Donna (Mike) Downum; son-in-law Dan Hartline; 17 grandchildren: Teresa, Don, Thomas, Mary, Tricia, Jennifer, David, Anne, Erica, Geneva, Allison, Shawn, Chris, Nick, Joseph, Rachael, Rebecca; 21 great-grandchildren ; 6 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews; & many special friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Star of the Sea on Wednesday, May 12, at 11:00 a.m. preceded by the recitation of the rosary at 10:30. The internment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Cemetery.

We extend special thanks to our cousin Judy Truemper Dodds, R.N., whose invaluable nursing background navigated us all through Mary’s final weeks.
