He was born on July 8, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Howard Kenneth King and Angela Genevieve Donato King. Bruce graduated from Howland High School in Warren, Ohio in 1966. He continued his education at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids, Minnesota in 1970 with a degree in marketing.
Bruce worked for over 40 years in retail sales and the restaurant industry. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting in Ohio, Minnesota, North Carolina, Colorado, and Canada. He was also a passionate professional sports fan and followed the Cleveland Browns, the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota North Stars (now the Dallas Stars), the Boston Celtics, the Cleveland Indians, and the Minnesota Twins.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Rambeaut King of Raleigh; his children Robyn King of Clayton, Adam King (Karleigh) of Winston-Salem, and Candice King of Clayton; grandchildren Magnolia King, Tahlia King and Lillia King; and brother David King (Cynthia) of Cary.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at McLaurin Funeral Home, 12830 US 70 Bus. Hwy W, Clayton, North Carolina 27520. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
