Estill “Buck” Glass patriarch of the family lived in Springboro, Ohio, May 5, 1926 -October 4, 2021. Born in Sadieville, Ky to Pearlie Mae (Johnson) and Lewis Wesley Glass. He had a tough upbringing as his father died when Buck was 2 years old. He was so thankful to his brother Tolbert, sisters Edna and Ada for taking such good care of him. His step sister Ollie held a special place in his heart. He grew up working on the family farm for much of his young life and worked as a farm hand for many neighbors.
He was a WWII Army Air Force 5th Squadron veteran stationed in Germany for most of his military duty. Shortly after his return from Germany he married Marcella “Dee” Daphne Pullen July 11, 1947 in Georgetown Ky., then moved to Dayton, Ohio working for Frigidaire and Harrison Radiator retiring after 38 years. For years he also worked 2 to 3 extra jobs as a carpenter to provide the best for his family. A man who could and would fix anything from car to home and for any neighbor who needed him. In 1957 he built the family home on Factory Rd in Springboro with the help of neighbors Robert Keaton and Chuck Grimshaw as the three of them drew straws to see who would be first as they helped each other build their homes. He lived here until his passing.
He was a great pool player and in his younger years once played Minnesota Fats to a draw. He was really good at poker, won dozens of trophies pitching horse shoes and never missed the World Tournament played annually in Greenville, Ohio. He coached his son Barry in little league with Ralph Wade and others leading the way starting the first league in Springboro. His daughter in law Lynn’s southern comfort coffee cake was his favorite and she always made sure he had an ample supply. He was a father figure to his son in law Michael and cherished his daughter Sandy for her love and care for both himself and Marcella.
During a family members funeral in February 2000 Buck accepted the Lord as his personal savior. He then started living the difference that Jesus made in his life.
Preceding him in death was the love of his life Marcella who passed August 6, 2008. His brother and sisters have passed as well as his first brother Alonza at age 5. He is survived by his daughter Sandra Kay McNally (Michael), son Barry Lane Glass (Lynn) and brother-in-law Carl Junior Pullen (Geneva).
