Clarence M. McCarron, Jr., 84, died suddenly and quietly at his home in Norwich on Wednesday, October 21. Clarence (Mac) was born in Hartford, November 13, 1930, the son of Alberta and Clarence McCarron, Sr. He resided most of his life in East Hartford and Norwich, CT, wintering in Bonita Springs, FL. After graduating from East Hartford High he served in the US Air Force. This was followed by a career as foreman in the food services warehousing industry and in later years, employment at Foxwoods Casino, and most recently enjoyed his time as a school crossing guard in Norwich. Mac had a passion for people, sports, travel, dance and time spent with his friends. Clarence (Mac) is pre deceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Gloria Esther Temple, his granddaughter, Kristina Gail Quarto, two brothers, Robert and Roger McCarron, and a sister, Carole Walsh. He leaves behind his beloved companion, Laurie Getman, of Ledyard, and her children Eric, Anne, Katy, Mark and Vicky, who were like family. He also leaves two sisters, Jean Duffy, East Hartford and Judy McCarron, Carmel, IN. He leaves two daughters and their husbands, Gail and Cliff Boyce of Grantham, NH, Sandra and James Quarto of Norwich, and a son and his wife, Theodore and Diane Wayland of East Hampton. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and 2 great grandnieces. Clarence will be laid to rest on Friday, November 6th, at 10:00AM at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. A celebration of his life will follow at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hartford at 11:00AM.
