Jean Marie Paeth, 92, passed away on April 3, 2016 in Vancouver, WA. She was born March 22, 1924 near Naperville, IL to Charles & Esther Paeth. They had five children and were farmers before moving to Washington State.
Jean obtained a liberal arts degree from Washington State University in 1949. In 1950 the University of Washington awarded her a library and information science diploma. Jean’s first job was with the Salem, Oregon library. Later she moved to California and worked for the city of Oakland library system.
She was a kind and soft spoken person. Jean was not one to focus on herself but others. She was a devoted daughter and sister sending checks home to help the family. Upon her retirement she returned to Vancouver. Jean lived simply and appreciated the joy of gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, and taking care of many cats. She showed great compassion throughout her life.
Jean is predeceased by her parents, and brothers, Charles, George, and Richard. Jean is survived by her remaining brother, Robert, and nephews, Charles, John, David, Alan, Doug, and niece, Wendy Paeth. There will be a private family gathering.
