Elsie Marie Loftus Beardmore, a life time resident of Annapolis, and most recently of Sunrise Assisted Living in Severna Park, died peacefully on October 4, 2017, at her residence. Elsie was born in the community of Weems Creek, Annapolis on May 20, 1927 to the late George Loftus and Elsie Marie Robinson who were from Baltimore. She was educated in Annapolis Public Schools graduating from Annapolis High in 1944 with a Secretarial Degree. Elsie married W. Harvey Beardmore in 1948. Harvey practiced law locally and later was appointed as Judge of the Fifth Judicial Circuit in 1968, a position which he held until his retirement in 1977. Elsie was predeceased by her husband in 2012. Elsie began her long and rewarding career as secretary, first in the State House in Annapolis and later as Secretary to the language department at the Naval Academy. Friends will miss her beautiful smile, her wonderful sense of humor, her kindness and sweet disposition, and especially her lady-like approach to life. Elsie was an active and long term member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. She was a life-time learner and took advantage of classes offered at the Arnold Community Center as well as Anne Arundel Community College. She was an ardent figure skater and belonged to the Sports Center Figure Skating Club for many years and continued her love of skating at the United States Naval Academy up until a few years ago. She was a friend to the animals. She also loved music and frequently attended Maryland Hall to enjoy the Annapolis Chorale and the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra. In addition, Elsie was an active member of the Caritas Society of St. John’s College. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 1601 Pleasant Plains Road, Annapolis, MD 21409 on October 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
