Virginia was born to William and Irene (Peak) Wohlgemuth on September 23rd, 1931 in Lancaster, KS. She grew up on the farm with her 5 siblings and graduated from Atchison County Community High School in May of 1949. Virginia married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, John William (Bill) Glamann, on June 18th, 1950. They had 5 children, Richard, Dan, Deb, Trent, and Dawn. Virginia worked at the Farm Bureau and then after the family moved to Kansas City, she worked for Consolidated Freightways for 30 years retiring in 1995. Virginia loved her family and friends deeply and welcomed anyone into her home and heart. She was a great cook and would whip up a meal in a hurry if she had any indication you were hungry and sometimes even if you weren’t. She always had treats for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her famous Ritz/peanut butter dipped in chocolate, ice-pops, pudding pies, French toast, gooey butter cake, and more. Virginia was a long- time member of Children’s Memorial Lutheran Church and later at St. James Lutheran Church and Hosanna! Lutheran Church.
Virginia is survived by her brothers Dave Wohlgemuth and Henry (Ike) Wohlgemuth; sisters-in-law Mary Claire Wohlgemuth, Lucille Wohlgemuth, and Mary Glamann; children Richard Glamann, Dan Glamann, Deb McGlaughlin, Trent Glamann, and Dawn Knight; daughter-in-law Karen Glamann; son-in-law Vincent Knight; grandchildren Angie and Braden Alves, Chris and Kate McGlaughlin, Jenny and Rusty Yinger, Erin and Eric Monahan, Megan and Kamron Garber, Garrett Glamann, Tim Knight, Victoria Knight, Andrew Knight; great-grandchildren Akira Alves, Briana Alves, Addison Yinger, Ethan Yinger, James McGlaughlin, Caiden Monahan, Caleb Monahan, Jakayla Burke and Jai’Lean Burke; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Glamann; sister Lorene Boggs; brothers Don Wohlgemuth and Earl Wohlgemuth; sister-in-law Jo Wohlgemuth; brother-in-law Daryl (Dude) Glamann; son-in-law Don McGlaughlin.
The family will be hosting a “Celebration of Life” service through the Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home once the stay at home restrictions have been lifted.
Virginia and Bill designated memorial gifts be directed to Children's Memorial Lutheran Church, which is now called "Gathering Table," still serving those in need in Northeast Kansas City.
