Dan was born in Toronto, Canada and was the Chairman and CEO of the Padgett Business Services franchise organization, SmallBizPros, Inc., headquartered in Athens, GA. He joined the company in 1986, working first in Canada and then in the United States. Dan became both a mentor and a friend to his colleagues at Padgett; he took great joy--both professional and personal--in their successes.
Dan is survived by Janice, his loving wife of 44 years; by 4 sisters; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Dan supported and participated in local charities such as the Lions Club International and Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic. Dan's passions were cooking, collecting fine wine, and taking annual trips to Montalcino, Italy, where he and Janice enjoyed the company of many friends. He is fondly remembered by family and friends for his wisdom, generosity, eccentricity, and capacity to love.
A private gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Dan’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
