Edward H. Honebein was “born to be wild” in Brush, Colorado to Juanita M. Honebein (Kitzmann) and Willis H. Honebein on October 19th 1950. He was one of five siblings. Ed lived his life fearlessly and always marched to the beat of his own drum. Ed graduated from Loveland High School in 1969 and shortly after joined the Navy to serve his country in the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Rowen DD782 as a boiler technician, stationed in Yokohama, Japan and in San Diego. He served from 1969 to 1973.
A Moped purchased from hard earned money and without his father’s knowledge, sparked a long life passion for motorcycles. Ed went on to create his business and legacy; Hawg Wild Custom Choppers. He started in his living room and grew his business from the ground up. Ed was a self-taught mechanic, painter and motorcycle craftsman. Ed created a sense of brotherhood in his business and was always willing to share his knowledge. He never passed on an opportunity to lend a helping hand and would be there to tell you a story if you just needed a laugh. Ed was a friend to many people all over the world. He loved hosting Motorcycle Swap Meets where he would personally welcome young and old to enjoy the experiences and culture he loved so much. He would often travel out of state to enjoy other swap meets far and wide.
Even with running his business, Ed always maintained a strong sense of family. He was extremely proud of his son Daniel for following his footsteps into the US Navy and would often boast about him to strangers. Ed met and married his wife Cindy Ann Honebein on April 6th 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada and had 2 daughters. Ed loved spending time with Son, Daughters, Nieces and Nephews, grandchildren and all the kids around the neighborhood he “adopted” along the way. He enjoyed many outdoor activities like fishing, horseback riding, boating and Motorcycle riding. He had an interest in music and took lessons in guitar and violin. Ed had a passion for learning that carried out throughout his life.
