Johnny went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2020. He was born on May 1, 1955 in Dallas, Texas to Eldon Roland Pirtle and Zania Mae Herring Pirtle.
He was an accomplished guitar player and singer. Johnny was known for his music. At 16 years old you could find Johnny and his lifelong friend, Dusty Sherwood playing the guitar. They had a band called Phoenixx. They spent many years traveling and playing gigs all over Texas and surrounding states. Most important to him was his faith. He knew his bible and read it every night before bed. He studied and would gladly visit and tell anyone who would listen about his faith and how God had enriched his life. Johnny was a member of the Jackson Church of Christ. He loved his family and enjoyed having family over to visit all the time. Johnny’s passion was the history of Canton Texas. He enjoyed researching and seeing photos of historical events. He was proud his family had been a part of the history of Canton. He loved to tell stories about events, how things used to be and of the many changes.
Johnny is survived by his children, Tony Wayne Pirtle and wife, Anna, Jason Pirtle, Nattalie Deshazo and husband, TJ, Casey Kobelia and wife, Mandy, Jimmy Pirtle; 10 beautiful grandchildren; and sister, Lily Moon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Zania Pirtle; siblings, Peggy Pirtle McNally and James Pirtle.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020.
Interment will be at High Cemetery in Canton, Texas
