George Ondeck, a longtime resident of Sedalia, Colorado, died peacefully
at home on November 13, 2020. George was born in Cook County, IL on September 7, 1926 to Lillian (Veseley) and George Ondeck Sr.
Professionally, George was an engineer for Martin Marrietta, later to
become Lockheed Martin. His many interests beyond work included
building his own home on the twenty beautiful acres in Sedalia where he
lived since 1981. He enjoyed the daily visits of the deer, the beautiful birds
and the squirrels. He even enjoyed the occasional visits of bobcats.
Exploring the world was another of his passions. He and his dear wife,
Charlotte, traveled in every state with a camper and their cat, staying in
campgrounds and always taking the trails from there to whatever adventure
they could find.
He climbed many fourteeners, some with Charlotte, including Longs Peak
and rock-climbed Devil’s Head and Storm Peak. When it snowed, he and
Charlotte would strap on their cross country skis and ski the property
around their house or down abandoned logging roads in the mountains.
In addition to all of their domestic travel, George and Charlotte enjoyed bus
tours of most of the countries in Europe, and cruised in the Caribbean and
the Nile River in Egypt, which included a trip to the Great Pyramid.
George was known to be intelligent, quiet and kind. He loved classical
music and opera. He is survived by, and will be deeply missed by
Charlotte and his two cats, Sparkles and Twinkle, in addition to numerous
friends and family members.
