It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our papa Renald Gérard St-Pierre at Hamilton General Hospital on November 15th, 2020 at the age of 88 (number of keys on a piano). Predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Jacqueline Lemieux, he was a native of Coaticook Québec and is survived by his daughters Lynne (David Coffey) of Barre Vermont and Nathalie (Mark Oliver) of Fonthill Ontario, his two adored grand daughters Diane and Nicole Supernault also from Barre Vermont, his late brother Germain (Denise Pichette), Maurice, Claire, Louis (Lisette), Jacques (late Jacqueline), Madeleine and Hélène (Noël Duplessis), his late brother-in-law Raymond (Anita Bougie) from the province of Québec and his late sister-in-law Huguette (Robert McAlpine) from Brantford Ontario as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He always said that he was a very lucky man to have had the opportunity to earn a living doing what he was passionate about, playing music. He wanted to get the best training possible and joined the US Navy in 1957-1961. He worked in New Orleans Louisiana and then returned to Québec. As a professional musician, he played 32 years as the section lead double-bassist of the Québec Symphonic Orchestra, CBC Orchestra, L’Ensemble Instrumental du Québec and the Roland Martel Orchestra. He was also a professor at Laval University, Trois-Rivières University and Cégep Sainte-Foy. He was very proud to be invited to teach at "Les Jeunesses Musicales" in 1981 in Berlin Germany where he had students from 18 different countries. We will miss his smile, his sense of humor and his passion for music. A funeral celebration will be held at a later date, when conditions allow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton or the Canadian Cancer Society.
