It is with heavy hearts we announce his passing. He went peacefully with his family at his side.
Jim was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and had various jobs until he joined Farm Electric where he apprenticed to become a power lineman. During this period of his life he worked in and around Warburg, Alberta where he met the love of his life Isabel. They married in 1955 and started to raise their family soon after. During this time he worked as a power lineman and they settled in Edmonton where he worked for Edmonton Power. They resided in Edmonton until 1966. At this point he was given the opportunity to work with BC Hydro and they moved to the Comox Valley.
He enjoyed fishing, berry picking, reading (Louie L'amour), art, puzzles, playing cards, going for walks with his dog buddy and going to the casinos.
During his life he enjoyed travelling and spent many winters in Yuma with Isabel. They also travelled across Canada and went to Mexico. After Isabel passed, he continued to travel with his children and enjoyed going to Wellton, Arizona, Palm Springs, and Newfoundland.
Everyone that knew Jim, would all agree he was known for his unique sense of humour, banter and being the prankster. He was easy to get along with and was quick to make friends at home and when travelling. He often spoke of his friendships and family with a smile on his face.
Jim is predeceased by his wife Isabel, son Leslie, and sisters Jean and Gwen. He is survived by daughter Terri (Brent), son Robert (Wilma), daughter Laurie (Terry), nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He leaves behind a close friend Olive. Special thanks to the staff and residence of Berwick Retirement Community.
Due to Covid, the family will be having a celebration of life in the summer.
