Jim retired from Alltel Telecommunications as a Telecommunications Engineer. He served in the United States Air Force as a ground radio technician. He attended Chapin United Methodist Church.
He loved life, always had a positive attitude and left an impact on everyone he met. He loved to dance and a partner was not a requirement. He saw good in all people and never met a stranger. He loved travel, baseball, game shows and comedy movies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar B. Rapp and Virginia Meadows Rapp; his brother, William Roger Rapp, all from Memphis, TN.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joyce Rapp; sons, Jeff (Suzanne) Rapp, Jason (Pam) Rapp, Michael (Elizabeth) Hornsby, David (Gina) Hornsby; grandchildren, Tanner Rapp, Cole Rapp, Connor Rapp, Taylor Hornsby, Landon Hornsby; great granddaughter, Ellie Hornsby; brother, Lawrence (Pam) Rapp from Memphis, TN; sister, Tina (Corey) Burkhalter from Center, TX and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for January 23rd from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at The Cotton Press, 199 W. Church St., Little Mountain, SC 29075.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
