Melody Ann Bliesener, 70, passed away December 29, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born May 17, 1950 in Carson City, Michigan to Rex and Dorothy (Hutting) Wood. She spent most of her youth in DeWitt, graduating with the class of '68. After graduation, Melody went to work at Consumers Power, retiring in 2008 from her position as Administrative Assistant to the Comptroller. It was at Consumers Power that she met the love of her life, Ken Bliesener. They were married for 34 years until his death in 2014.
Melody enjoyed being with Ken, traveling, reading, televised sports, bingo, shopping, and casinos. She was very kind, loving and generous to all. She especially loved her dogs.
Melody was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mark; and husband, Ken. She is survived by her brother, Brian (Sandi) Wood of College Station, Texas; sisters, Brenda (Ken) Lowe of Lansing, and Michelle (Elizabeth) Wood of East Lansing, as well as; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her fur-baby, Figi.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Gerard Church with Father John P. Klein officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow at Deepdale Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Melody has asked that donations be made to St. Gerard Church, American Diabetes Association, or to the American Lung Association.
