Robert (Bobby/Bob) Charles deVeer, Sr., 78, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020. He was born on December 5, 1942, in Opelousas, La., and grew up in Dutchtown, La. He graduated from Dutchtown High School (1961) and married his high school sweetheart, Clara Ann Womack. Together, they raised their family in Gonzales, La. Bob retired from Motiva (Texaco/Star Enterprises) after 34 years. Robert enjoyed fishing, golfing, and most of all being with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Clara Womack deVeer; children, Robert (Lori Goodson) deVeer, Vicki (Paul) Frick, Jeff (Stacy Rogers) deVeer; grandchildren, Colby (Britney Blanchard) deVeer, Erica (Corey) Ikerd, Joshua (Alanna Jeffcoat) Frick, Nicholas (Madison Rankin) deVeer, Jordan Frick, Brooke (Jake) Babin, and Jacob Frick; great grandchildren, Charlotte deVeer, Harper Ikerd, Hunter deVeer and Baby Babin arriving soon. He’s also survived by brothers, Roy (Kathy Babin) deVeer and his twin, Larry deVeer, and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom he always considered his “immediate” family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Mildred deVeer and his older brother Clifford (CL) deVeer Jr. Bob will be remembered most for his love of his family, the twinkle in his eyes, and never ever meeting a stranger. A private internment memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
