Edna Beatrice Vickers, was born in Paul Island, Westmoreland, Jamaica on March 3rd, 1942 to Pastor Walter Morally and Henrietta Morally. She was the youngest of 13 children. Grandma met and married the love of her life granddaddy, Clovis Vickers when she was 20 years old. Grandma is survived by her 7 Children, Marie, Hugh, Sonia, Donna, Carol, Neville and Ainsley. 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 sister, 2 brothers, 3 daughters-in-law and one son-in-law.
Grandma started her education at Paul Island Primary and Secondary Schools, respectively, after which she continued her education at Grange Hill Secretarial School, with the intention to pursue a career as a secretary. After she migrated to the United States her career path changed. Her love for people lead her to a career in nursing assistant.
Today, we are celebrating Grandma’s life, she was a kind, caring, loving, and a joyful soul. Grandma, loved to be in the presence of the younger generation, because she was a big kid at heart herself. Every young person she meets she adopts them and treats them as her son and daughter. She never spoke ill of anyone and always taught us to be kind and loving to one another. She believed that we must try to live our lives as Christ did, never judge one another, do not gossip, forgive each other and help each other as much as we can. Grandma, was a true believer in Christ and heaven has gained an angel.
Grandma, will be remembered for her melodious voice which she gladly displayed for everyone. She was not shy about telling us that she was the queen and that’s how we should treat her, we found that very funny. Grandma, had a personality that draws people to her, she had a bubbly, peaceful and a grateful spirit.
Grandma’s greatest wish for her family was for us to give our lives to the lord. She was always happy when her kids told her that they went to church or they were getting baptized.
Today, our hearts are heavy with grief, but we find comfort in knowing she is with our heavenly father. Grandma was never afraid of dying, she always says when her time comes she is ready to be with her lord and savior. She’s still guiding us, telling us she’s alright and not to worry about her, because through God’s amazing grace all is well with her soul.
