Chuck Jones, as he was best known, was born April 5, 1925 in Parkersville, West Virginia but spent most of his childhood in the coal-mining town of Nelsonville, Ohio with his mother, uncle, and grandparents. Chuck was valedictorian of his graduating class of Nelsonville High School and went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s in Geological Science. His love of rocks was turned into a long career as a Senior Geologist with ARCO and as a consultant following his retirement. Chuck enjoyed music, travel, gardening, and was known to share a good poem or quote. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Chuck Jones was preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Anne Jones. He leaves behind his son John C. Jones and wife Janis; daughter Susan and husband Tommy Flanagin; grandchildren Kimberly Flanagin Gonzales, Patrick Flanagin and Amanda Jones Knobloch; and great-grandchildren Rya and Zane Gonzales and Parker Flanagin.
Chuck had a great sense of humor and was very generous. Those who had an opportunity to share a moment with him were amazed with his charm and discernment. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family.
The Jones family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Village on the Park. They would also like to give a special thanks to Marilyn Swabolda and her assistants Olga and Leah, and Essential Hospice who took great care of him in his final days of life.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 6 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX directly followed by a graveside service
