It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother on April 23, 2021 in New Westminster.
She was born, Marjorie Dodd on Aug 26, 1937 in Stafford, England to parents Aaron and Charlotte. She was the youngest daughter of 14 children and is predeceased by all her siblings. Growing up she said the family didn’t have much money, but always had plenty of food to eat and warm clothes to wear.
At age 19, Marjorie sailed to Canada on the Queen Mary along with her childhood friend Pat. She always said the trip was the best week of her life, dancing away with a British football club that was on board. Shortly after arriving in Vancouver, she landed a job at BC Tel where she made many lifelong friends and continued to work until her retirement in 1992.
Marjorie was a wonderful mother to her three children, Maria (Dan), Carol, and Cliff (Jana); and a loving grandma to her seven grandchildren, Erin, Ryan, Allyson, Lindsay, Erica, Sam and Elliott. She is also remembered by many nieces and nephews in England.
Mom loved her grandchildren and was always happy to spend time attending their sporting events and dance recitals. In the last few years, she spent many hours playing store and school with her two youngest grandchildren. She loved knitting, reading, going to the casino, volunteering with the TELUS Ambassadors and meeting friends for lunch. She loved to travel and took many trips which included France, Hungary, Hawaii and a number of cruises. In her 70’s, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of travelling to Africa for a safari with her nephew, Julian. Her last trip was a European river cruise with a friend in 2019.
She will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty and generosity. We will miss you mum!
Due to Covid, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
