Born in Macon on October 29, 1988, Nate achieved the rank of Eagle Scout (Troop 19) and was a graduate of Stratford Academy, where he excelled in track and football. He attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, graduating in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in business information systems. At Georgia Southern he was also a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, which he served as recorder, treasurer and president.
After college, Nate returned to Macon and joined his father as a partner in Ingleside Data Systems, where he was a computer systems consultant.
Nate was loved by his family and friends for his thoughtfulness, gentleness, easygoing manner, and infectious smile, and for his inquisitive nature that made him a great problem-solver. He was trustworthy, patient, and kind, a good listener with a ready wit and tender heart. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew, and with his dogs, Miller and Hudson.
He is survived by his parents, Nathan and Gina Watson of Macon; siblings, Jenny Barfield (Carter) of Statesboro and Thomas Watson (Olivia) of Atlanta; fiancé, Anna Usry of Macon; nieces, Hannah Barfield and Sara James Barfield; nephew, Noah Barfield; grandmothers, Doris Black of Columbus and Patsy Watson of Macon; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandfathers, Thomas Black of Columbus and Thatcher Watson of Macon.
