Ralph was the ninth of 11 children born to Jerry F. Epps, Sr. and Laurina Aiken Epps, Walhalla, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Gertrude Head, Elva Mae McPherson, Marie Brown, Louise Burgess, Ethel Crenshaw, Patsy Floyd and his brothers: Edward I. Epps and Jimmy Epps.
Ralph leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Peggy M. Epps and son, Ralph Edward Epps, Stockbridge, Georgia along with their daughter, Sharon Epps Sheppard (Tony), Hull, Georgia; grandson, William Sheppard (Laura), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, granddaughter, Rachel Bryan (Nathan) and great-grandchildren, Matthias Bryan and Lunarae Bryan (Goldsboro, North Carolina); brother, Jerry F. Epps, Jr (Marguerite), San Jose, California, sister, Catherine Hensley (Don), Pensacola, Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ralph was in the United States Army for 22 years retiring in 1973. He served in Vietnam and two tours in Korea in the medical supply corps.
Ralph turned his heart and life to God in the eighties when Evangelist Carl Hatch visited Lake City Baptist Tabernacle. He served the Lord faithfully thereafter, including at Valley Hill Baptist Church and as a current member of Jodeco Baptist Church. Ralph never met a person he didn't like and always wanted to talk or share a joke.
Funeral services are provided by Horis A. Ward, Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia. Pastor Keith Fleming of Jodeco Baptist Church is officiating. Viewing is at the chapel on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 1:00PM-2:00PM with the service following thereafter.
Interment is scheduled for Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 2:00PM for family at Georgia National Cemetery, 2025 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Canton, Georgia with full military honors.
