Born February 8, 1931 in Pekin, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Hoerr) Vogelsang. Her parents preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Vogelsang, Eugene Vogelsang and Robert Vogelsang and three sisters, Florence Nolder, Betty Vogelsang and Helen Vogelsang.
Surviving are one brother, Chuck Vogelsang of Pekin; one niece, Diana (Greg) Hasler of Pekin and four nephews, Dave (Linda) Vogelsang of Belvidere, Mike (Mary) Vogelsang of Orland Park, Tom Vogelsang of Mapleton and Terry Vogelsang of Manito.
Leona was a longtime cashier and clerk at the former 14th Street Hardware in Pekin.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin. Leona was focused on family and enjoyed spending time with her siblings. She also enjoyed traveling, especially bus trips and going to Florida on vacation.
Her graveside funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. James C. McClarey will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
