We all grieve the passing of our beloved son, brother, and friend, Carl Frederick Schoenfelder. He suffered a fatal heart attack at age 49.
Carl is survived by his parents, John and Diane Schoenfelder, and his sister Katherine Anne Schoenfelder. His beloved poodle, Kosmo, suffered from thyroid cancer and died in April of this year. Carl’s identical twin brother, David Rankin Schoenfelder, died in 2002.
Carl was a graduate of The Pathway School in Audubon, PA, the North Penn High School in Lansdale, PA as well as the Upper Bucks Vocational Technical School in Perkasie, PA. When he was twelve years old, he convinced the owners of Merrymead Farm to hire him, and he loved his work there with the cows and pigs. He formed an amazing friendship with a Rottweiler named Rott during those years.
After high school, Carl was employed as a laboratory technician by Smith Kline Beecham. At one point he was named as employee of the month, and was written up in the company newsletter.
When Carl moved to Cape Cod, MA in 2005, we all realized that he was an extra-ordinarily gifted lobsterman, shellfisher and fisherman. He joined the Cape Cod Salties and loved their meetings and competitions. His walls were covered with the awards that he won. Carl also very much enjoyed his work with the Barnstable Association for Recreational Shellfishing (BARS), where he served as a good volunteer and board member.
Carl will be remembered as being kind, hardworking, and a very good friend.
A service to celebrate his life will be at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA, at 3 PM on Wednesday August 11, 2021.
