Joe was born June 19, 1932 in Maryville, TN to the late Austria & Frank Cummings. He moved to Memphis in 1955 when he married Joy Chambers on February 10.
Mr. Cummings was a histologist for St. Francis Hospital. He enjoyed being in the Memphis Photography Guild. Others hobbies of Joe's included cooking, working puzzles, a movie lover especially sci-fi (Star Trek) and was very fond of John Wayne westerns. He never met a stranger and loved to talk and listen to others. In fact he helped connect several relationships in the family because of this. He loved all his family very much and was well liked and received by all.
Joe was also preceded in death by his wife Joy Charylene Cummings; and son-in-law James Bursi, Sr.
Mr. Cummings is survived by his son Joe Jr. of Southaven, Mississippi and June Fay Bursi of Memphis; grandchildren Jennifer Campbell, Jessica Lambert and James Bursi, Jr.; great-grandchildren Andre V. Campbell, Jr., Kiara M. Campbell and Adrienne N. Campbell; and friends and caregivers James S. & Roscoe Williams.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be sent to www.legacy.com for the reforestation program in Joe's name.
